Promote Alexandria as an Energy Efficient Eco-city
Mayor Euille believes the city government must lead by example and work towards becoming more energy efficient in all of its departments. Working with Governor Kaine and members of the City Council, he looks forward to creating green jobs and an alternative energy economy as part of Governor Kaine’s “Renew Virginia Initiative”.
Seek Dedicated Funding for WMATA (Metro)
As a Board of Director on the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Vice Chairman of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, and a member of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC), Mayor Euille is working hard to improve transportation for all residents in the region. Mayor Euille will continue to fight to make sure public transportation is properly funded, and will work towards including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Alexandria
Expand DASH Bus Routes to More Neighborhoods
Mayor Euille understands that encouraging residents to make use of public transportation is not enough- we must work to expand DASH bus routes so more residents can ably take advantage of our public transportation. This will also reduce gas emissions and protect the environment.
Make Alexandria More Pedestrian and Bike Friendly
A lifelong resident of Del Ray, Mayor Euille understands that neighborhoods are safer, healthier, and have more economic development when residents can readily walk and bike between work, home, and play. Mayor Euille will continue to work with City Council to identify ways to make Alexandria more pedestrian and bike friendly.
